What level of photographic experience is required?
From beginner to expert, all are welcome! There are a few prerequisites. In order to maximize your creative ability, a camera with manual controls is required. All DSLRs have manual control as well as mirrorless bodies such as the Sony NEX-7, Panasonic GH3 or Olympus OM-D, and advanced point and shoots such as the Sony RX100 and the Panasonic LX7. If you are unsure about your camera, just send me an email. A tripod is an essential requirement for nature photography. In order to create maximum depth of field with tack sharp images, your camera will have to be stabilized. If you do not own a tripod, there will be a demonstration with different models and a rental tripod can be arranged.
What methods of payment can I use? What are the payment guidelines and cancellation policy?
I accept payments via credit card, Paypal, a personal check or a money order. A deposit is required at the time of booking, with the remaining balance due 60 days before the start of the workshop. If for any reason you need to cancel, it must be done 60 days prior. A cancellation made prior to the 60 day window will receive a full refund. Any cancellation within the 60 day window is eligible for a full refund granted your spot is filled. If I am unable to fill your spot, I will not be able to provide a refund. There are fees for processing payments through Paypal. Any refund from Paypal will be given minus these fees.
What do I need to bring with me to the workshop?
I believe in proper planning and preparation. Upon registering, you will receive regular emails with complete details on itinerary, proper clothing, essential camera gear, etc. If you have any questions anytime before the start of our workshop, I am here to ensure you are properly prepared.
I noticed lodging, transportation and food are not provided. Why not?
In order to keep the price of the workshop to a minimum, lodging, transportation and food are left to the responsibility of the participant to cater to their individual budget. I can provide lodging recommendations upon request. Keeping in mind that we will be waking up early and going to bed late, it is strongly encouraged to lodge near the central workshop location in order to minimize your travel time.
I am an experienced photographer and would like to be taken to the top photographic locations. Is this workshop still for me?
Yes! How much instruction you receive is entirely up to you. From the beginner learning the basics, to the experienced photographer learning more advanced techniques, to the seasoned pro who simply wants to join like minded photographers on a tour, workshops are for everyone no matter the skill level.
How much hiking is involved? What kind of physical shape do I need to be in?
For a private workshop there are no physical limitations as the itinerary is built around you. For group workshops, it is entirely based on the dynamics of the group.
